Legacy Aviation Services, an authorized Twin Commander Service Center based at Clarence E. Page Airport (KRCE) west of Oklahoma City, has acquired Mid-Continent Airmotive, Inc., a long-time authorized Twin Commander Service Center –– and Legacy’s neighbor at KRCE.
With the acquisition Legacy adds 17,000 square feet of hangar and office space, a generous ramp area, numerous highly experienced Twin Commander airframe and powerplant technicians, and control of the airport’s new state-of-the-art fuel farm and fueling service.
The acquisition is an ideal fit with Legacy’s core business of maintaining, repairing, and modifying Twin Commanders and other turboprops and light jets, said Raul (RJ) Gomez, President and CEO of Legacy Aviation. The combined businesses will operate under the Legacy name.
Gary Riggs, who has managed Mid-Continent for more than three decades, is retiring. “Gary has been the owner and leader of Mid-Continent since 1977,” Gomez noted. “He has always provided the highest quality service and expertise to his loyal customers. Although we have been friendly competitors and neighbors, we are both eager to start this new chapter of growth at Legacy. Having said that, we will miss Gary’s friendly presence on the field.”
Legacy Aviation now manages Jet A and 100 LL fueling services at KRCE, which is located about 18 miles west of Oklahoma City. The uncongested airport has a 6,014-foot-long primary runway with WAAS approaches, and a shorter crosswind runway. Legacy will offer extremely competitive fuel prices and 24/7 full-service fueling, Gomez said.
Gomez plans to refresh the former Mid-Continent facility and use it as the airport FBO and the base for Legacy’s new full-service avionics sales, installation, and service activities.
Riggs said that the business he helped grow is in capable hands. “From my experience I can tell you that RJ and his team at Legacy are the best there is when it comes to maintaining, inspecting, repairing, or structurally modifying aircraft. Honestly, if I could have chosen anyone to carry on with the Mid-Continent torch it would be Legacy. I just got lucky having them as our neighbors all these years. My customers are in very good hands.”
