Twin Commanders are known for their segment leading fuel efficiency, large cabin and long range capabilities.
Part of the Ontic Group, Twin Commander aircraft offer the very best in business and private jet planes. Our models can be divided into three categories: early piston engine powered models; turbine powered models; and the most recent JetProp models.
While new Twin Commander aircraft are no longer made, we are proud to provide our community of owners and operators with the highest quality spares and customization options.
Since Twin Commander's original production in the 1950s, there have been numerous model variants. Each classically beautiful but evolving with performance and capability enhancements.
After the end of the war, commercial airlines had begun to develop a network of flights within the US, but Twin Commander recognized a significant void for the needs of business travelers and individuals who traveled to destinations not frequently served by commercial carriers. These people also had higher demands for comfort, convenience, and time savings that could only be met through a private aircraft and so Ted Smith set about designing the first Twin Commander prototype in 1946.
After flying its maiden voyage on April 23, 1948, Twin Commander began in earnest in the 1950s following CAA certification. The company grew throughout the 1960s and 70s under Rockwell-Standard and later Gulfstream ownership until the final plane was produced in 1986.
In 1989, Precision Aerospace Corporation purchased the type and production certificates, rights, tooling, and drawings for Twin Commander so that the fleet could still be supported with spares and maintenance requirements.
Twin Commander was reincorporated as Twin Commander Aircraft LLC in 2003 and was purchased first by Matheson and then Firstmark Corp. who were acquired by Ontic in 2021.
To this day, Twin Commander remains one of the most efficient, versatile, and capable airframes ever built and we are proud to continue investing in the iconic brand's future.
